Anna Bertoldini: How is working as a brand employer in Glovo?

Anna is a globally experienced marketing professional. The first thing we could tell about her is how strong her is passion for marketing and communication. With her vast career all around the world, she has developed an incredible curriculum. Currently, she is working at Glovo as the global employer branding specialist. A high-speed company that suits her perfectly.

Why did you choose to pursue your actual position? Which are the most thrilling parts?

I embarked on a career in employer branding by chance and have loved it ever since. I graduated with a degree in marketing and have a passion for creating engaging content that informs and creates value for people, through my work and my blog.

Now, I made it my mission to help global companies build their brand and communicate their culture, mission, and purpose with authentic and effective storytelling.

The best part about working in employer branding, especially nowadays, is knowing that I’m making a difference with my work. Externally, companies’ reputations are shifting because of COVID-19, and how companies communicate to and treat their employees makes a vast difference. Therefore, their employer brand is becoming incrementally important as it highly affects its master brand. Internally, I’m able to use my skills to showcase just how great our company culture is even when employees are working from home.

If you were graduating this year and you face the COVID-19 crisis what would you have told yourself now with your current experience and view of the professional world?

Kick-starting your career as a fresh graduate amidst the COVID-19 crisis will be a challenge, but don’t be discouraged. As you browse for jobs, start building your personal brand and focus on networking with the people you’re interested in learning from and connecting with. Optimize your LinkedIn profile, read up on the latest industry trends, take some free online courses, and focus on your overall personal development so you’re ready and informed to maximize your potential. I believe many firms in the future will be asking how you handled this crisis, so make the most of this time.

Also, don’t forget to be proud of yourself, you’re facing a challenge as a new graduate that many people will never experience. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

How is working in a high-speed company, like glovo in the COVID-19 crisis? We have seen there has been an increase in demand, how are you managing?

Working at Glovo is a challenging but incredibly fun experience, we’re in a dynamic industry and we’re constantly thinking about our stakeholders when coming up with solutions. During the COVID-19 crisis we’ve had to make some tough decisions, both internally and externally, but we’ve been working hard and channelling our efforts to help vulnerable people and our partners thrive in these uncertain times.

Internally, we’ve been focusing on making sure social distancing doesn’t develop into an emotional distancing, we have regular check-ins, video calls, and virtual team events to keep employees happy and energized while working at home.

What are the hard skills and soft skills needed for your position and what would be a must in a person CV in order to have an advantage?

Great question! This really depends on how the company and role are structured, but overall as an employer branding professional your mission is to position your organization as a top employer to both employees and potential candidates. At a high-level, some skills I practice every day are stakeholder management, verbal and written communication, adaptability, social media and marketing strategy know-how, and accountability. As an employer branding professional, you will find yourself involved in many exciting and challenging projects with different teams, so organization and prioritization are also key.
